Landing Your First Role

UOCA's "Landing Your First Role" (LYFR) event brought together students and industry professionals for a series of high-quality workshops and networking opportunities. With the support of partner firms, attendees participated in workshops on Resume Design (Deloitte), Case Interviews (Accenture), and Strategic Networking (BDO). The event also featured a productive networking session, connecting firm representatives with students. This event marked the beginning of a student-led collaboration between UOCA and the Telfer Career Centre, and celebrated UOCA's first-ever funding from the University of Ottawa.

Bridge to Success

In collaboration with the Telfer Business Technology Association and the Telfer Finance Society, UOCA hosted a multifaceted workshop event. Each club led a 1-hour workshop tailored to their specific fields. UOCA's session focused on consulting case interviews, allowing participants to explore job interview scenarios unique to consulting roles and engage in a brief case-cracking exercise. The event continued with mock interviews, ample networking opportunities, and concluded with a three-course dinner.

uOttawa Consulting Case Crack

The uOttawa Consulting Case Crack (UOCCC), a collaboration between the University of Ottawa Consulting Association and ACE uOttawa, marked a significant milestone as the first joint initiative. The goal was to connect students, faculty, and top consulting firms. The 7-day program featured team-building activities, engaging workshops such as 'Effective Presentation through Storytelling' hosted by IBM, and problem-solving sessions with feedback from EY and BDO. This event provided a unique platform for participants to hone their skills and network with industry professionals.

Office Visits

Our office visits offer students exclusive opportunities to gain insights into the consulting industry by experiencing the work environment firsthand. The EY Office Tour allowed participants to explore the office, meet consultants, and make valuable connections. During the BDO Office Tour, students toured the office, participated in an ESG Case-Crack Workshop, and engaged with consultants, creating potential networking opportunities. These visits exemplify our commitment to providing practical experiences and fostering connections between students and industry professionals.

DELOITTE SAP WORKSHOP

Join us for an exclusive opportunity to visit Deloitte’s Ottawa head office and gain insight into how the firm leverages SAP to drive digital transformation. This event, hosted by the University of Ottawa Consulting Association (UOCA) in collaboration with Deloitte, is designed for students at the intersection of business and technology. Attendees will hear from Deloitte professionals about real-world SAP applications, consulting careers, and the skills needed to succeed in tech-driven business environments. UOCA will vet all applicants to ensure a high-caliber group of participants, with potential collaboration from Telfer’s Business Technology Association (BTA) to match Deloitte’s ideal target students. All logistics, including transportation, will be handled by UOCA—making this an unparalleled opportunity to learn, connect, and grow.

COFFEE CHAT SERIES

The UOCA Coffee Chat Series is an ongoing initiative that connects top firms with motivated students through personalized, small-group conversations. Each participating firm pairs approximately 12–15 consultants with 2–4 students each for individualized, 1-on-1 coffee chats designed to foster meaningful dialogue and career insight. These chats are conducted virtually unless both the student and consultant prefer to meet in person, offering maximum flexibility and comfort. The event provides firms with a unique opportunity to engage directly with high-potential students interested in consulting, business, and technology. Flexible by design, the series allows each participating firm to customize session details according to their preferences and recruitment goals.

CELEBRATING SUCCESS

Join us for UOCA’s Year-End Celebration & Networking Night, an informal event dedicated to celebrating our achievements and expressing gratitude to our executive team, club advisors, faculty members, and partnering firms and organizations. The evening will begin with a short 20–30 minute presentation led by UOCA’s executive team, highlighting key milestones and successes from the year, with potential remarks from our valued partners. Following the presentation, guests will enjoy an open networking and mingling session—a chance to connect, reflect, and share experiences in a relaxed setting. Light refreshments will be provided to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. To add a personal touch, the event may feature student testimonials or a mini panel sharing how their experiences with UOCA have influenced their professional journeys.
